Panasonic Aquarea T-CAP R32 fault F43

Outdoor defrost temperature sensor abnormality

Heat pump

What it means

During startup and operation of cooling and heating, the temperatures detected by the outdoor defrost temperature sensor are used to determine sensor error. Abnormality is judged if the fault condition continues for 5 seconds.

Likely causes

  1. Faulty connector connection
  2. Faulty outdoor unit PCB (main)
  3. Indoor communication error

Where to start

  1. Turn OFF the power and check the CN-TH2 connector connection on the outdoor unit PCB (main). If the connection is not normal, this indicates connector poor contact - correct the connection.
  2. If CN-TH2 connector connection is normal, plug out the connector from the outdoor unit PCB (main) and measure the resistance of the outdoor defrost temperature sensor.
  3. If the measured resistance matches the characteristic chart value, this indicates a defect in the outdoor unit PCB (main).

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
