Panasonic Aquarea T-CAP R32 fault F15

Outdoor fan motor (DC motor) mechanism locked

Heat pump

What it means

The rotation speed detected by the Hall IC of the fan motor during fan motor operation is used to determine abnormal fan motor (feedback of rotation > 2550 rpm or < 20 rpm).

Likely causes

  1. Outdoor PCB fault
  2. Outdoor fan motor fault
  3. Operation stop due to short circuit inside the fan motor winding
  4. Operation stop due to breaking of wire inside the fan motor
  5. Operation stop due to fan motor Hall IC malfunction
  6. Operation error due to faulty outdoor unit PCB
  7. Outdoor heat exchanger deficiency (e.g. fouled, blocked or faulty outdoor coil/fan)

Where to start

  1. Check outdoor PCB
  2. Check outdoor fan motor for lock/obstruction
  3. Turn OFF the power and operate the fan by hand. Does the fan rotate smoothly? If No, replace the fan motor.

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
