LG Therma V fault 60

Outdoor EEPROM error

Heat pump

What it means

EEPROM is loose or missing, or it is burnt out.

Likely causes

  1. EEPROM loose
  2. EEPROM missing
  3. EEPROM burnt out
  4. Fan locked
  5. Obstruction/shield around the heat exchanger
  6. Insufficient distance between product and wall
  7. Piping condition issues such as pipe bending
  8. EEV operation/connection status fault
  9. Abnormal refrigerant pressure
  10. Compressor restraint
  11. Compressor wiring reverse phase loss
  12. Short circuit or opening of internal connection line in compressor
  13. Compressor winding resistance out of spec
  14. Compressor insulation resistance failure
  15. Inverter PCB assembly or connector connection fault
  16. IGBTM failure

Where to start

  1. Check if the product installation is in good condition: check if the fan is locked, check the shield around the heat exchanger, check the distance between the product and the wall, check the condition of piping such as bending of the pipe, check EEV operation status and connection status, check refrigerant pressure. If No: remove the cause of the abnormality.
  2. If installation OK, check if the compressor is normal: check compressor restraint, check compressor wiring (reverse phase loss), check short circuit/opening of internal connection line, check resistance between each terminal of compressor (0.529 ~ 0.631 Ω ± 7%), check insulation resistance between compressor terminal and pipe (50 MΩ). If No: compressor wiring check / compressor replacement.
  3. If compressor OK, check if the inverter PCB assembly and connector connections are in good condition. If No: inverter reassembly, connector reconnection, replace connector when defective.

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.

From the LG manual for the Therma V. Check the model on the data plate before you order parts.
