LG Therma V fault CH41

D-pipe sensor (inverter) open/short

Heat pump

What it means

Open / short of outdoor unit D-pipe sensor (Inverter)

Likely causes

  1. Check the sensor stewed condition
  2. Check for sensor burnout
  3. Fan locked
  4. Obstruction/shield around the heat exchanger
  5. Insufficient distance between product and wall
  6. Piping condition issues such as pipe bending
  7. EEV operation/connection status fault
  8. Abnormal refrigerant pressure
  9. Compressor restraint
  10. Compressor wiring reverse phase loss
  11. Short circuit or opening of internal connection line in compressor
  12. Compressor winding resistance out of spec
  13. Compressor insulation resistance failure
  14. Inverter PCB assembly or connector connection fault
  15. IGBTM failure

Where to start

  1. Is the sensor properly inserted in the PCB? If No, insert it properly into the PCB (reassemble the sensor).
  2. Is the sensor normal? If No, replace sensor.
  3. Is the sensor assembly in good condition? If No, replace sensor.

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
