LG Therma V fault CH32
High temperature in discharge pipe of the inverter compressor
Heat pumpWhat it means
Comp Off function activates when the discharge temperature is sensed and rises above a certain temperature
Likely causes
- Overload operation
- Outdoor fan restraint, shielding, clogging
- Refrigerant leakage (shortage)
- Inverter compressor discharge sensor defective
- EEV connector missing / EEV assembly fault
- Insufficient power-on time before operation (less than 12 hours)
- Faulty IPM (Intelligent Power Module)
- Faulty compressor (insulation or coil failure)
- Faulty inverter board
- Unstable or zero output voltage from inverter
- Fan locked
- Obstruction/shield around the heat exchanger
- Insufficient distance between product and wall
- Piping condition issues such as pipe bending
- EEV operation/connection status fault
- Abnormal refrigerant pressure
- Compressor restraint
- Compressor wiring reverse phase loss
- Short circuit or opening of internal connection line in compressor
- Compressor winding resistance out of spec
- Compressor insulation resistance failure
- Inverter PCB assembly or connector connection fault
- IGBTM failure
- Refrigerant accumulation in internal compressor after mounting or extended power-off period, causing temporary reduced insulation resistance
Where to start
- Is the product installation in good condition? Check whether the fan is locked, remove shields around heat exchangers, secure the distance between the outdoor unit and the wall, check for bent pipes and abnormalities. If No, remedy: remove cause of error.
- Is there enough refrigerant? Check refrigerant leakage, supply refrigerant if not enough. If No, remedy: treat the leakage point and supply additional refrigerant.
- Is the EEV properly assembled? Check the status of PCB(Inverter) EEV1 assembly, check the status of EEV assembly, check PCB(Inverter) IPM input signal connectors short-circuit -> refer to CH21 trouble shooting method. If No, remedy: LEV assembly / replacement.

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
