Midea R32 M thermal Arctic Mono fault P1

High pressure protection

Heat pump

What it means

Error code 21. High pressure protection detected by user interface and refrigerant system main PCB.

Likely causes

  1. Restriction in refrigerant circuit
  2. Overcharge of refrigerant
  3. Faulty condenser/water heat exchanger heat rejection
  4. Blocked outdoor fan/coil
  5. Pressure sensor/switch not connected properly or has malfunctioned. Excess refrigerant. System contains air or nitrogen. High pressure side blockage. Poor condenser heat exchange. Main PCB damaged.
  6. Abnormally high refrigerant pressure, condenser blockage, overcharge, fan failure
  7. Excessive refrigerant charge
  8. Blocked condenser/evaporator
  9. Pressure sensor fault

Where to start

  1. Check for restriction or blockage in refrigerant circuit
  2. Verify condenser airflow/water flow
  3. Check refrigerant charge

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
