Midea R32 M thermal Arctic Mono fault EA

Discharge pipe temperature sensor error

Heat pump

What it means

Discharge pipe temperature sensor error (serial number 11), sensor Tp. Displayed on user interface and refrigerant system main PCB.

Likely causes

  1. Sensor Tp disconnected, sensor malfunction, wiring break, PCB connection issue
  2. Discharge temperature lower than suction temperature for more than 5 minutes
  3. Possible compressor malfunction
  4. Refrigerant migration/flooding
  5. Faulty temperature sensor
  6. Sensor Tp fault
  7. Sensor wiring fault
  8. Insufficient refrigerant caused by refrigerant leakage
  9. Low pressure side blocked by crushed or bent pipe, blocked EXV, or dirty filter
  10. Poor air side heat exchanger heat exchange in heating or DHW mode
  11. Insufficient water flow rate in cooling mode
  12. Outdoor main PCB fault (last resort)
  13. Inverter module damaged
  14. Discharge temperature exceeding 105°C indicating high compressor load or high ambient/system conditions
  15. Crushed or bent pipe
  16. Blocked EXV
  17. Dirty filter
  18. Hydronic box main PCB fault
  19. Damaged cables between hydronic box main PCB and outdoor unit main PCB
  20. Outdoor unit main PCB fault
  21. Incorrect or abnormal input power supply (N or L)

Where to start

  1. Check sensor Tp connection, measure sensor resistance, verify wiring continuity, test sensor response
  2. Compare discharge temperature (Tp) to suction temperature (Th)
  3. Check compressor operation

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
