Midea R32 M thermal Arctic Mono fault HP

Repeated low pressure protection lockout

Heat pump

What it means

HP indicates P0 protection has occurred 3 times in 60 minutes. When an HP error occurs, a manual system restart is required before the system can resume operation.

Likely causes

  1. Same as P0: Low pressure switch not connected properly or has malfunctioned. Insufficient refrigerant. Low pressure side blockage. Poor evaporator heat exchange in heating mode or DHW mode. Insufficient water flow in cooling mode. Main PCB damaged.
  2. Low pressure switch not connected properly or has malfunctioned
  3. Insufficient refrigerant caused by refrigerant leakage
  4. Low pressure side blockage
  5. Poor evaporator heat exchange in heating mode or DHW mode
  6. Low pressure side blocked by crushed or bent pipe, blocked EXV, or dirty filter

Where to start

  1. Check for low pressure side blockage: crushed or bent pipe, blocked EXV, or dirty filter
  2. Step 1: Check for insufficient refrigerant caused by refrigerant leakage
  3. Step 2: If no, check if low pressure side is blocked (crushed/bent pipe, blocked EXV, dirty filter)

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
