Midea Heat pump fault C7

Over-high temperature protection for IPM module

Heat pump

What it means

IPM module over-temperature protection triggered when module temperature reaches or exceeds 95°C.

Likely causes

  1. Unit installed in narrow space with bad ventilation or high temperature
  2. Heat exchanger blocked
  3. Finned tube heat exchanger dirty/blocked
  4. Inverter control box dirty/blocked or with obstacles
  5. Fan not running normally
  6. Fan motor failure
  7. Inverter PCB failure

Where to start

  1. Refer to Part 4 Appendix: Guide for identifying inverter PCB failure to determine PCB status before component replacement
  2. Check if unit installed in narrow site with bad ventilation or high temperature, or heat exchanger blocked
  3. Check whether the finned tube heat exchanger is dirty/blocked

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
