Ideal Logic System IE fault L6
False flame lockout
Gas boilerWhat it means
Boiler has detected a false flame signal condition and locked out.
Likely causes
- Deteriorated flame sense electrode
- Internal boiler wiring fault
- Loss of continuity in flame detection electrode connector
- False flame signal detected
Where to start
- Restart the boiler - does boiler work OK? If YES, check routing and integrity of internal boiler wiring is OK, check condition of Flame Sense Electrode and replace if deteriorated.
- If NO, separate the flame detection electrode in-line connector. Is there continuity between the terminal pins connected to the electrode?
- If YES, replace Flame Detection Electrode.

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
