Ideal Logic System IE fault L02

Ignition lockout after 5 attempts

Gas boiler

What it means

Boiler fails to light after 5 ignition attempts and locks out, displaying fault code L02.

Likely causes

  1. Boiler did not light within 5 ignition attempts
  2. Failure to establish burner flame after repeated ignition attempts
  3. Flue components not correctly assembled, fixed or supported
  4. Flue or flue terminal obstruction
  5. Displaced seals on flue extensions
  6. Combustion products and inlet air mixing due to flue leakage
  7. Incorrect gas type or gas supply pressure/rate not verified prior to commissioning
  8. Incorrect gas rate/pressure
  9. Poor combustion
  10. Air/gas ratio valve fault
  11. Flue restriction or leakage
  12. CO/CO2 ratio greater than 0.004 indicating combustion deposits or fouling
  13. Debris or deposits in heat engine/sump outlet
  14. Damaged electrode affecting combustion
  15. Condensate trap blockage or drying out
  16. Combustion deposits building up on heat exchanger
  17. Debris in sump outlet or condensate trap
  18. Damaged or worn electrode affecting spark gap
  19. Water or gas joint leakage

Where to start

  1. Check ignition sequence completes
  2. Press Restart Button (E) to repeat ignition sequence
  3. Check gas supply and ignition components if lockout persists

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
