Ideal Logic System IE fault L0D

Ignition lockout: blocked flue/condensate

Gas boiler

What it means

Boiler has locked out on ignition failure attributed to blocked flue or condensate system.

Likely causes

  1. Blocked flue
  2. Blocked condensate pipe/trap
  3. Flue components not correctly assembled, fixed or supported
  4. Flue or flue terminal obstruction
  5. Displaced seals on flue extensions allowing combustion products and inlet air to mix
  6. Combustion products and inlet air mixing due to flue integrity fault
  7. Incorrect gas type or gas supply pressure/rate not verified prior to commissioning
  8. Flue or flue terminal obstructed
  9. Seals on flue extensions displaced during installation
  10. Incorrect gas rate/pressure
  11. Poor combustion
  12. Air/gas ratio valve fault
  13. Flue restriction or leakage
  14. CO/CO2 ratio greater than 0.004 indicating combustion deposits or fouling
  15. Debris or deposits in heat engine/sump outlet
  16. Damaged electrode affecting combustion
  17. Condensate trap blockage or drying out
  18. External wall seal dislodged if Mark 1 is not flush with inner wall surface and can be seen prior to the wall surface
  19. Combustion deposits building up on heat exchanger
  20. Debris in sump outlet or condensate trap
  21. Damaged or worn electrode affecting spark gap
  22. Water or gas joint leakage

Where to start

  1. Refer to Section 4.3: Ignition Lockout procedure
  2. Zero the ECGA in fresh air per manufacturer instructions before use
  3. Set boiler to maximum gas rate and allow combustion to stabilise before inserting probe

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
