Ideal Logic System IE fault F6
Outside sensor fault
Gas boilerWhat it means
Fault detected with the outside sensor.
Likely causes
- Loose wiring connection at boiler or Outside Sensor
- Loose wiring connection at Terminal Block or PCB
- Faulty Outside Sensor
- Faulty PCB
- Outside sensor fault
Where to start
- Connect multimeter across Outside Sensor terminal pins and measure resistance at known outdoor temperature
- Is the wiring securely connected at both the boiler and Outside Sensor? If NO, securely connect the wiring at both the boiler and Outside Sensor.
- If YES, disconnect the wires to the outside sensor and check the resistance using a suitable multimeter connected across the Outside Sensor's terminal pins.

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
