Ideal Logic System IE fault F02
Flame loss
Gas boilerWhat it means
Boiler has detected loss of flame signal during operation.
Likely causes
- No/low gas pressure at boiler inlet
- Faulty electrode or harness
- Faulty spark generator or harness
- No 24Vdc supply to gas valve while flame is on
- Wiring fault from gas valve to PCB
- Faulty PCB
- Blocked condensate pipe or flue
- Blocked trap or condensate drain pipe work
- Faulty gas valve
- Low gas pressure at boiler inlet
- Blocked flue
- Low gas pressure
- Blocked condensate/trap
- Flue components not correctly assembled, fixed or supported
- Flue or flue terminal obstructed
- Seals on flue extensions displaced during installation
- Combustion products and inlet air mixing due to flue integrity fault
- Gas control valve fault requiring replacement
- Spark generator fault requiring replacement
- Faulty spark generator causing ignition failure
- CO/CO2 ratio greater than 0.004 indicates need for cleaning
- Debris or deposits in heat engine/sump outlet
- Damaged electrode affecting combustion
- Condensate trap blockage or drying out
- Combustion deposits building up on heat exchanger
- Damaged or worn electrode affecting spark gap
- Debris in sump outlet or condensate trap
- Water or gas joint leakage
- Faulty gas control valve requiring replacement
Where to start
- Check if boiler ignites for a short time and then extinguishes
- Check Gas Pressure available at the Boiler Inlet (>18 mbar)
- Check if 24Vdc supply is available at the Gas Valve while the flame is on

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
