Intergas HRE / Rapid / ECO RF fault 1

Temperature too high

Gas boiler

What it means

Boiler has detected an excessively high temperature, often related to flow restriction or pump issues.

Likely causes

  1. Requested CH/DHW temperature reached
  2. Air in installation
  3. Pump not running
  4. Insufficient flow in installation, radiators closed, pump setting too low
  5. Isolation valves closed
  6. Room thermostat setting incorrect
  7. Temperature setting too low
  8. Outside sensor shortcircuit
  9. Pump not running correctly / pump setting too low
  10. No circulation in installation
  11. Boiler power not correctly set for installation
  12. Lime scale or fouling in heat exchanger
  13. Room thermostat / weather-dependent adjustment not closed or faulty
  14. No current (24V)
  15. Burner not firing on CH due to sensor S1 or S2 fault
  16. Burner does not ignite
  17. A different gas type is connected to the appliance than the one it was factory-set for

Where to start

  1. Check for air in the installation (bleed radiators)
  2. Check pump is running
  3. Check radiators/isolation valves are open

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
