Ignition failure lockout

Gas boiler

What it means

Boiler has failed to establish flame after 5 ignition attempts and has entered lockout. Display will show L-C constantly.

Likely causes

  1. Gas supply not reaching burner
  2. Ignition electrode fault
  3. Flame sensor fault
  4. Gas valve malfunction
  5. Air in gas line

Where to start

  1. Check gas service cock is open
  2. Verify gas supply pressure at test point
  3. Check ignition sequence is occurring
