Glow-worm Energy System fault D.14

Operating mode of the modulating pump

Gas boiler

What it means

Sets the pump speed operating mode: variable (auto) or fixed speeds 1-5.

Likely causes

  1. Radiators not heating sufficiently at factory setting
  2. Noise produced in radiators or radiator valves due to excess bypass flow
  3. Noise persisting in boiler due to trapped air

Where to start

  1. Check current d.14 setting: if set to 0 = auto, do not change bypass factory settings
  2. If d.14 is set to 1-5, remove the front casing to access the bypass adjusting screw
  3. Observe radiator heating performance and any noise in radiators/radiator valves to determine correct adjusting screw position

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
