Vokera Pinnacle System fault E051

Smoke obstruction error high power

Gas boiler

What it means

Transitory error indicating a smoke/flue gas obstruction detected at high power operation.

Likely causes

  1. Flue/smoke obstruction at high power
  2. Combustion conditions approaching upper emission limit
  3. Ionisation sensor signal indicating abnormal combustion
  4. System water pressure drop below required minimum value
  5. Fan speed fault
  6. Overheat detected by limit thermostat
  7. No flame signal detected
  8. Incomplete combustion or high emissions detected
  9. Flue gas threshold temperature exceeded
  10. Excess pressure in primary circuit
  11. Flue components not correctly assembled, fixed or supported
  12. Flue or flue terminal obstructed
  13. Damaged or missing flue seals
  14. Faulty or degraded seals around appliance burner
  15. Internal flue seal leakage
  16. Door or case seal leakage
  17. Incorrect combustion setup
  18. Combustion setup issue affecting low-fire operation
  19. Gas valve calibration fault at minimum rate

Where to start

  1. Check ionisation sensor condition and position in burner flame
  2. Check system water pressure against minimum required value
  3. Check fan speed sensor operation

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
