Viessmann Vitodens 100-W fault 7

Lead break, cylinder temperature sensor

Gas boiler

What it means

No DHW heating. Lead break (open circuit) detected on the cylinder temperature sensor circuit.

Likely causes

  1. Faulty sensor lead or plug connection
  2. Degraded or failed NTC sensor element
  3. Faulty on-site 2-core lead (up to 35 m, 1.5 mm2 cross-section)
  4. Lead break, cylinder temperature sensor

Where to start

  1. Check the lead and plug of the outside temperature sensor
  2. Disconnect wires 7 and 8 from terminal 4
  3. Check the sensor resistance and compare with the value for the current temperature from the resistance/temperature diagram

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
