Ideal Logic System IE Gen 2 fault F10

Spark generator fault

Gas boiler

What it means

Fault indicating an issue with the spark generator or its wiring.

Likely causes

  1. Faulty spark generator wiring
  2. Faulty spark generator causing ignition failure
  3. Low gas pressure
  4. Gas valve wiring/PCB fault
  5. Faulty gas valve
  6. Faulty electrode
  7. Blocked condensate/trap
  8. Boiler mode set to Off
  9. CH Timer or Room Thermostat switched off
  10. Closed radiator valves
  11. No voltage supplied from Timer/Room Stat to SL1 IN (external wiring fault, not boiler fault)
  12. Missing link wire across OpenTherm connections when no OpenTherm Room Stat connected
  13. No 230V at SL2 IN when Outside Sensor connected
  14. Faulty wiring from terminal strip to PCB
  15. Cylinder stat not calling for heat
  16. DHW timer switched off
  17. OFF shown under Tap symbol (DHW mode disabled)
  18. No 230V present at point (A)
  19. Outside Sensor wiring fault from terminal strip to PCB
  20. OFF shown under Tap symbol on display
  21. System controls or wiring fault
  22. Spark generator fault requiring replacement

Where to start

  1. Check wiring from terminal strip to PCB
  2. Restart boiler and check if it ignites briefly then extinguishes
  3. Check gas pressure at boiler inlet is >18 mbar

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
