Daikin Altherma fault EC-00
Abnormal increase tank temperature
Heat pumpWhat it means
Domestic hot water tank thermistor measures a too high temperature.
Likely causes
- Increased water temperature due to an external heat source
- Faulty domestic hot water tank thermistor
- Faulty hydro PCB
- Faulty room thermistor
- Deviation of thermistor (higher temperature measured than actual).
- Bad contact between sensor and pipe
- Deviation of outlet water after backup heater thermistor (lower temperature measured than actual)
- Deviation of thermistor (lower temperature measured than actual)
- Incorrect refrigerant charge
- Faulty expansion valve control
- Faulty suction thermistor
- Blockages in refrigerant circuit
- Faulty discharge pipe thermistor
- Domestic hot water tank thermistor measures a higher temperature than actual (component failure)
Where to start
- Check the water circuit for an external heat source (see 4.3 Water circuit)
- Perform a check of the domestic hot water tank thermistor (see 3.21 Thermistors)
- Perform a check of the hydro PCB (see 3.12 Hydro PCB)

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
From the Daikin manual for the Altherma. Check the model on the data plate before you order parts.
